Mr. Ng, managing director of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, joined the board in 1997. At the GIC, Mr. Ng is responsible for global asset allocation and global currency risk management, as well as for the operations of the equities department, bond department, foreign exchange unit, economics department, and client services. He previously held positions at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, including director of the international department and of the banking department.

Professor Schlesinger joined IDEAglobal's advisory board in May 1995. He was formerly the president of the Deutsche Bundesbank and was chairman of the Central Bank Council from 1991 to 1993. Prior to that, Professor Schlesinger served in a variety of positions, including head of the research and statistics department, member of the board, and deputy president of the Deutsche Bundesbank. He also served as deputy chairman of the Central Bank Council, as well as a researcher at the IFO Institute for Economic Research. Professor Schlesinger received a doctorate in economics from the University of Munich. He was a board member at the Bank for International Settlements, a member of the supervisory board of Metro, vice chairman of Foundation Finance, and an economic advisor to the German finance ministry.

Author of the seminal Review on the Economics of Climate Change and former Chief Economist at the World Bank, currently the IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government at the London School of Economics, heading a new India Observatory within the LSE's Asia Research Centre and also a Visiting Fellow of Nuffield College, Oxford. He was Adviser to the UK Government on the Economics of Climate Change and Development, reporting to the Prime Minister from 2003-2007.

Nitin has played a key role in the international politics of sustainable development for over two decades. He was Deputy Secretary-General for the Rio Earth Summit, the manager of the Commission on Sustainable Development for its first decade and as the Secretary General for the Johannesburg Summit. He was also responsible for the organisation of the Copenhagen Summit on Social Development, the Monterrey Summit on Finance for Development and many other global events. Mr. Desai is a Special Advisor to the UN Secretary General for Internet governance and chairs the Advisory Group that organises the annual UN Internet Governance Forum. He is an Honorary Fellow of the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. In India, he is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and advises the Indian Government on its national climate change action plan.

Sam served on the 1995, 2001 and 2007 assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He also gained hands-on experience in the design of emission reduction projects as a climate change economist for the Global Environment Facility and the World Bank. Sam joined IDEAcarbon from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where his most recent position was Deputy Chief Economist. Sam is a Senior Advisor to IDEAcarbon Strategic and a Fellow of the Grantham Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics.

Paul has been a key participant in the carbon market and has been responsible for creating a number of innovative structures for carbon emissions producers, including pioneering securitizations of tradable greenhouse gas emissions credits. Paul founded Antipodean Partners, an environmental hedge fund in 2002 and more recently was Managing Director at Credit Suisse where he ran the Global Carbon Trading business and developed the bank's carbon strategy.
