Ratings Assessment

Ratings Assessment is designed by The Carbon Rating Agency (CRA) for clients who want a focused analysis in one or two aspects of the project, e.g. a more focussed performance estimate, a detailed analysis of registration risk or a broader view of a technology/sector/region.

The ratings assessment constitutes a detailed evaluation of projects’ fundamentals combined with expert judgement of the agency’s specialists.

The basic CRA analysis is extended to include relevant topics requested by the client. A site visit may be required or requested by the client.

Product Deliverables

1. Risk Analysis and Diagnostic

  • Summary of identified risks under five key categories, presenting the essentials of each risk, based on desktop research and any additional information provided by the client;
  • Explanation of the key diagnostic points that will influence the project/portfolio performance;
  • Presentation of conclusions in “Risk at a glance” spider web showing the relative levels of the five key risk categories.

2. CDM/JI Framework Issues

  • Analysis of the project’s additionality and likelihood of getting registered/ approved;
  • Factors that may cause delay in completion of required framework process.

3. Performance and Benchmarking

  • Likely range of delivery of emissions reductions considering the inherent variability of the project scheme;
  • Assessment of the real and long term nature of the emission reductions;
  • Project benchmarking, identifying the performance of similar projects.

4. Sustainable Development Aspects

  • Opinion on the sustainable development aspects/impacts of the project activity.

5. Other Issues

  • Opinion on other issues at the request of the client (detailed framework risk analysis, reputational concerns, technology transfer, etc).
