Rating Diagnostic

Risks for carbon assets can be broken up in different groups or risks classes. Corresponding risk assessments are sub-classified down as follows:

Rating Diagnostic

Framework:

Compliance with the CDM, JI mechanisms and voluntary market standards, local policy and regulation, sustainability aspect, etc

Context:

Risks related to markets, political, economic and legal environment of where the project is implemented.

Participants:

Risks associated with project participants, such as project developers, investors and CDM consultancies, as well as their capabilities, experience, and available resources to implement and operate the project.

Implementation:

Risk relating to construction and commissioning of a project.

Concept:

Risks pertaining to design, technology and level of project complexity.

Each of the individual risk groups are rated by the CRA analyst before the project is given an overall project risk factor (see diagram below). By following this process individual projects with different characteristics can still be compared with one another in an effective and transparent manner.
